Battle Fleet: Ground Assault Help and Strategy Tips

How To Play

General Help
  • Each tank in the battle can move and fire each turn. The game goes proceeds one tank at a time, so you have to use up the actions (move and/or fire) on the current tank before moving on to the next one.
  • Tanks can either move twice or move and fire. Once you are done with the tank's actions, press the End Turn button in the top right to continue to the next tank.

Hints and Tips

General Tips
  • Enemy tanks usually start opposite to your tanks on the map (your tanks are already facing towards them).
  • Around the map you will see a few green containers scattered around, drive close to one of these to pick it up. They contain Strategic Command Cards like airstrikes and minefields.
  • Fog of war is critical in the game. Hiding in forests and behind scenery helps to protect your tank from the enemy. If your tank is hidden you will see a hidden icon next to the tank name (crossed out eye).
Movement Help
  • To move, select the Move button next to the tank, then click somewhere within the green arc to set a destination or the yellow arc to reverse to a destination. Then press the Angle button which allows you to set the final rotation of your tank at the destination (ie: to face the enemy with your strong frontal armor), then press Move to move the tank.
Movement Tips
  • Tanks have different armor values on the different sides (ie: front is always strongest), so maneuver your tanks to face the enemy by setting their angle at the destination for each move.
Firing Help
  • To fire, select the Fire button next to the tank and set a direction by dragging the aiming line around. Then set a range by dragging the power bar below the aiming circle. This is the distance you want the shot to go. If you zoom out you will see blue circle(s) around your tank when you are aiming, these will indicate a set range around your tank to help you figure out the distance. (in the easiest difficulty you will see 2 circles, one at max range and one at 1/2 range of your weapon, in the other difficulties you will only see 1 circle at a fixed range that has nothing to do with the weapon).
  • You can select between Armor Piercing (AP) and High Explosive (HE) shells. AP shells are best against tanks which have lower armor than the shell's armor penetration value.  HE shells are best against artillery, destroying scenery (like buildings, trees) and against tanks that your AP shells cannot penetrate (as they will still do some damage).
Firing Tips
  • The Angle and Power is set from the actual position of the Turret, not the center of the tank. Keep this in mind when calculating the Angle and Power of shot.
  • Some tanks have turrets that don't rotate 360 degrees, and can only fire forward.
  • HE shells are also better at knocking out components of tanks, such as tracks or engines.
  • AP shells can go through most scenery such as houses.
  • When a tank fires from a hidden location a yellow ring will show it's approximate location. This is also used by the AI to target your hidden tanks.

Campaign Help

  • To win the campaign you must capture all territories.
  • Tanks can only be built in territories with Factories (denoted by a big Factory icon), each factory has a limit of tanks it can build per turn.
  • Every turn you gain points for all the territories that you control.
  • Transports are required to capture some territories. Select a territory and the number of required transports will be listed in the territory details panel. The transports need to survive the battle, if they are destroyed during the battle then even if all enemies are destroyed you will not be able to take over the territory.
  • Airfields and Artillery are rebuilt after each battle automatically.
  • Tank components, such as their weapons, engine, tracks, etc are automatically repaired after a battle, but the hull damage can only be repaired in a factory. To repair, move you tank into a factory for 1 turn.
  • If you retreat from a battle (by selecting "End Mission" from the options menu) you will lose some tanks and your fleet will retreat to a random neighboring territory you control. If you do not control any neighboring territories the tanks will be lost.
KEYBOARD CONTROLS
  • Use the WASD or Arrow keys to move the camera
  • Shift + Enter will end your turn
